All Tomorrow's Parties
G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1999. Gekartonneerd met stofomslag. Pp: 277. "Colin Laney, sensitive to patterns of information like no one else on earth, currently resides in a cardboard box in Tokyo. His body shakes with fever dreams, but his mind roams free as always, and he knows something is about to happen. Not in Tokyo: he will not see this thing himself. Something is about to happen in San Francisco, and Laney needs a man on the ground there."-BOOK JACKET. "Rydell has no pressing reason not to go to San Francisco. Chevette isn't running toward Rydell, though of all her ex-boyfriends he's the only one she might want to run toward. But in any case she's running to San Francisco, to her old home on the Bridge, where people live who have no place else to go."-BOOK JACKET. "The mists of San Francisco make it easy to hide, if hiding is what you want, and even at the best of times reality there seems to shift. A gray man moves elegantly through the mists, leaving bodies in his wake, so that a tide of absences alerts Laney to his presence. A boy named Silencio does not speak, but flies through webs of cyber-information in search of one object that has seized his imagination. And Rei Toi, the Japanese Idoru, continues her study of all things human. She herself is not human, not quite, but she's working on it. And in the mists of San Francisco, at this rare moment in history, who is to say what is or is not impossible."-BOOK JACKET. ISBN: 9780399145797. Cond./Kwaliteit: Goed.

¶ A collected edition of three works attacking what Edmund Gibson [ 1669 - 1748 ] Bishop of London, saw as a rise in 'Profaneness and Impiety' in the people of London. Gibson believed this was caused by an increase in books which attacked Christianity, so his answer was to write three letters to the people of London, containing 'Rules and Cautions' designed to strengthen the faith of 'sincere and unprejudic'd Christians' and to preserve them 'from these dangerous Infections'. Individually they were published in large amounts ( a total of 74000 copies of the first 3 were printed ) but this collected edition had a print run of just 3000 copies.

[GIBSON (Dr. Edmund) Bishop of London.]
The Case of the Methodists Briefly Stated; More particularly in the Point of Field-Preaching.
[London: Printed for Edward Owen, 1744]. Folio, (310 x 190mm), 4pp., caption title, typographical ornament headpiece, cont. MS note in ink "By W. Rackstrow", disbound. By 1744 the Methodist Societies had become so successful that Dr. Edmund, the Bishop of London, resorted to anonymous attacks aimed at Whitefield and his supporters. Here he endeavours to prove that field-preaching violates the provisions of the Toleration Art, and because of the size of his congregations, Whitefield's preaching in the open air was a serious danger to the state. Rare. ESTC & OCLC locates 2 copies in the British Isles (BL & NLS) and 3 in North America (Duke, Newberry & Chicago).

Count Zero. The Neuromancer Trilogy
Gollancz, 2016. Paperback. Pp: 306. They set a Slamhound on Turner's trail in New Delhi, slotted it to his pheromones and the colour of his hair. When the Maas Biolabs and Hosaka zaibatsus fight it out for world domination, computer cowboys like Turner and Count Zero are just foot soldiers in the great game: useful but ultimately expendable. When Turner wakes up in Mexico - in a new body with a beautiful woman beside him - his corporate masters let him recuperate for a while, then reactivate his memory for a mission even more dangerous than the one that nearly killed him: the head designer from Maas Biolabs says he wants to defect to Hosaka, and it's Turner's job to deliver him safely. Count Zero is a rustbelt data-hustler totally unprepared for what comes his way when the designer's defection triggers war in cyberspace. With voodoo gods in the Net and angels in the software, he can only hope that the megacorps and the super-rich have their virtual hands too full to notice the amateur hacker with the black market kit trying desperately to stay alive.
